RITQ conducted a two-day writeshop from June 25-26, 2026, at the Orchid Garden Suites, Manila, which focused on writing the research report and related outputs for the second phase of the Developing Models of Pre-Service Teacher Education Curricula and Programs under the Research Initiatives for Teacher Education project. Building on Phase 1 which centered on reframing teacher education program outcomes and the professional education component, Phase 2 focused on reframing specialization degree programs and developing specialized add-on certificate programs.

The activity opened with the presentation of the writeshop’s objectives and emphasized the importance of producing high-quality, evidence-informed research. The report consisted of three components: degree programs in specialization, career and technical education, and specialized certificate programs, with designated research teams focusing on a specific component. The research teams then presented their initial drafts and provided an opportunity for collaborative review and refinement. Researchers were also oriented on the prescribed style guide to ensure consistency and quality throughout the report.

Throughout the writeshop, research teams engaged in intensive writing and peer-critiquing sessions to refine their respective outputs. The activity also featured the presentation of related project outputs, including the updated Resource Guide and Professional Learning Package, which are complementary materials developed to support the diffusion of the curriculum. Concurrently, the administrative and finance team facilitated the preparation of the project’s financial and administrative reports.

In addition, the research teams discussed the initial works on the Reframing Graduate Teacher Education Project, which included the development of structure and philosophy papers, a national survey and data-collection plans, ethics proposals, and case analyses of straight-degree programs in the Philippines. 

The writeshop concluded with agreements to finalize revised research reports and to continue preparations for reframing graduate teacher education. The activity reaffirmed RITQ’s commitment to supporting teacher education in the Philippines and to strengthening its role as a thought leader in teacher quality.
