NEAP, RITQ collaborate on Phase 3 of workshop on Induction Program for Beginning Teachers
The National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP), in partnership with RITQ, recently completed the Phase 3 of the workshop that sought to enhance the Induction Program for Beginning Teachers.
Held from 30 September to 1 October 2024 at NEAP Marikina, the workshop aimed to review and refine the Teacher Induction Program (TIP) coursebooks by drafting and validating new lesson designs to better support beginning teachers.
RITQ Deputy Director Dr. Maria Teresa A. Manicio led the workshop alongside RITQ research analysts Mike Angel Renon, Joanna Marie Rodil, and Ma. Salome Fulgencio. Dr. Manicio opened with a discussion on the implications of the changes in the team of writers involved, and revisited key points from the previous workshop phase. She guided participants through the essential processes for Phase 3, focusing on writing techniques, lesson design consolidation, and best practices for collaboration.
Phase 3 follows an earlier workshop conducted from September 9 to 13, which centered on defining the coursebook’s overall structure, including lesson design, content selection, professional learning topics, and scope and sequence. In this latest session, NEAP and RITQ concentrated on the hands-on writing and validation of new coursebook lessons.
As part of RITQ’s role, the team provided NEAP with tailored tools and materials for the workshop activities. Additionally, they consolidated and analyzed workshop outputs, ensuring that feedback from Phase 3 would be effectively integrated into the TIP coursebooks.
RITQ’s support builds on previous collaborations with NEAP and the Teacher Education Council (TEC), particularly in the 2020–2021 efforts to develop induction resources for newly-hired teachers. The enhanced TIP will equip beginning educators with structured professional development and support, strengthening the national framework for teacher quality and effectiveness. (RITQ Communications)
